In the meeting, the Microsoft correspondent offered benefits in the form of collaboration and marketing to Nextcloud. For example, they wanted to promote the Nextcloud logo in Microsoft marketing material – if Nextcloud would consider dropping its anti-trust complaint.
Microsoft used to be a company of jerks, liars and cheaters 40 years ago, it remains a company of jerks, liars and cheaters today.
A@firstname.lastname@example.org M$ has never changed. They have built their Empire by cheating and abuse and still are a for-profit megacorp.
Their fans like to ignore facts and pretend "they became less hostile and nicer to FOSS". Then they would whine about "Exremist FOSS community who distrusts microsoft for no good reason, they are just haters". Been hearing that kind of FUD for 15 years, and that propaganda probably started before. M$ was a shit company back then, and they still are!
@blacklight so, I learned also from this, that Microsoft does come to every entity (government and corporation) to lobby for their nonfree software "success". Am I right?
@ademalsasa @blacklight Yes, you are, it has been the case forever, at least around here. Also today, an news article (in French) explicitely stated that Apple is now jumping in the lobbying arena towards Quebec's education system: https://www.ledevoir.com/societe/education/741915/education-apple-veut-etre-plus-present-dans-les-classes-du-quebec
